The NZACH is created to help guide veterinarians and the general public when seeking hydrotherapy for their pets. As our industry grows within New Zealand we are proud to be leading the way by promoting best practice in hydrotherapy while building an international network of support to encourage continued professional development.

Choosing a facility from our Association means you are assured that the therapists are professionally trained and will abide by our code of conduct and standards.

All of our members hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in hydrotherapy and first aid and assistants to the therapists must also be trained to equivalent standards. As part of our membership each therapist undergoes continuous professional development to ensure they are keeping up to date with best practice and latest research.

Our therapists work with your veterinarian, specialist or other industry professional as appropriate and will keep detailed records of progress to share with you and your dog’s medical team.

Premises and facilities are maintained to the highest standards and are audited bi-annually to insure these are upheld. In addition facilities must comply with all of the relevant New Zealand legislation for health and safety and carry public liability insurance.

Animal welfare is a primary consideration in our profession. Our Association has additional welfare standards to those set by New Zealand legislation. These additional measures are designed to promote the safety and comfort of dogs undergoing therapy and to support the therapeutic process. Our members do not use tools such as restraint poles and where possible therapists are present in the pool or treadmill at all times. If appropriate we have all patients wear suitable non-restrictive harnesses during therapy to ensure safety and promote therapeutic handling.

Only professional members of the NZACH may display the tick.
